I am a sedimentologist specializing in subsurface fluid/rock interactions. I am from the US, and I am only fluent in English. For the past year, I have been working at GFZ on geothermal energy, mainly in Berlin and the surrounding areas. In the US, I working on using the Earth to understand processes on Mars and how we would recognize signs of life in the rock record if we came across it.

Berlin is one of the first C40 cities with a plan to become carbon neutral. One of the ways to do this is to switch heating networks to storing heat underground during the summer when we don’t need it. I will explain how this works, potential problems, and strategies to solve those problems.
